contact lens

After training for syog, went to JP with cariann to eat lai lai. Their food is not bad, but their services could have been better by providing customers with plain water (since they charge 10+7%).

Got my first trial pair of contact lens at the optical shop at Boon Lay control station. They charge $30 for eye test and gave a pair of Acuvue Clear contact lens for trial (not sure if it's cheap). Ended up spenting $43.50 at the shop ($12 on multi-purpose solution and $1.50 on a big bottle of saline solution).

Good thing is my astigmatism is completely gone now!! The optometrist said that it is because my eyeball has become rounder. My degree for both eyes is now the same too(125 for both). Bad thing is that my base curve of 8.8! She said that my bc is bigger, so coloured or illuminating contact lens wit fixed bc of 8.5-8.6 is too small for me. And she says if I really wana wear, I must not wear beyond 8hours. THeory is that wearing clothes that are too tight will be uncomfortable. So similarly, if the contact lens is too tight and stick closely to the eye, it wont be able breathe. Bad for eye!

This lady optometrist is quite a patient and gentle one, and she gave clear instructions.

Instructions to xt:

1. To remove contact lens: hold the lower and upper eyelid (at the lash area) with two fingers of the same hand and pull out the contact lens with thumb and the index finger. (If difficult to remove, slide the lens with the index finger and hold on, then wit the help of the thumb remove it from the eye)

2. To put in (note: hands shld be cleaned wit soap and dried but contact lens must be wet) use two hands at the same time. Middle finger of left hand to pull up the upper eyelid (at the lash area) and the middle finger of the right hand to pull down the lower eyelid, and with the index finger put in the contact lens and hold for a while until the lens sticks onto the iris, then look down and bliNK!! done!!

3. After removal: Rinse the lens with multipurpose solution and rub about 30x for both sides of the lens and repeat for the other len (Remember to add and change the solution while rubbing each sides of the lens and also for the other len). Rinse one more time be4 soaking the contact lens in the case for at least 6hrs, so that there will be enough time for the bacteria to be killed! & Contact lens case to be discarded every three months.

4. B4 wearing: Rinse the lens with saline first (cos the multipurpose solution contains alot of chemicals! Bad for eyes!), whereas saline has similar composition to our tears. THerefore by rinsing with saline, you can reduce the chemicals that you put into your eyes.

5. Don't wear contact lens everyday, cos if u accidently injuried ur cornea??? or dono wat, by giving one day rest u will allow the eye to recover. If nv wear lens everydae, jus change the multipurpose solution every 3 days. WHen you just started wearing, begin wit 4 hours --> 6 hour--> then 8 hours wear and the longest time you can wear it is 10-11 hours or until eyes become uncomfortable or red.

She gave me acuvue lens becos she said my bc is big and acuvue d lens suits my bc better. They are selling Acuvue Clear monthly for #39.__, which i tot was pretty cheap?? cos acuvue is supposed to be expensive???

6. If the contact lens gets lost in the eye, rinse wit plenty of saline until it comes out. If it doesn't, she will help me get it out.!

Not sure if i missed out on any of her instructions siaaa!! I hope not!! Oya she mentioned if I wana take a nap and it is more than 15mins, I mus remove the lens and to nv sleep wit it on!! Cos when u sleep ur eyes are nt blinking so the lens will stick very tightly to the eyeball, but when you are awake at least when u blink, the lens will move abit. Will be working 3 full days for SYOG, so won't be wearing my lens until the 11th!



8 AUgust

Today is really shiok Til the maz!! I reached at 11.15pm but by the time we entered and reached Hall 9, it's already 12.10pm and we ate lunch straight away (cos they say gt arrangement problem so we will have lunch free instead of dinner). But, in the end the dinner still came!! I ate both lunch and dinner for free!! We were supposed to only take one free meal per day. lol. I took two bottles of orange juice from the fridge becos it's free but only for today cos the vendor complaint that non-volunteers not allowed to drink! BOO!!! Selfish!

For the whole day, we sat in the aircon room and chit-chat. We even shifted to the lounge to watch TV! SUper shiok! Nv do work but can still get money and free food!

But, we saw some of the SYOG players checking in already! BOO! Means there is work to do tml! Hope not alot to do! But, good tin is got double pay! The Japanese were amg the first to check in, they are the best le! They came in immediately hung up their JApanese flags on every floor!! Faint! TMl National Day!!! They don't hang our flat nvm, still hang their own!! Wana conquer NTU Hall 9!!!


Bad thing is that the shoe i bought from Cotton ON, I haven't even wear 5 times!! SPoilt le!!! Good tin is I asked my pa to buy a pair of black sch shoes for me, but he bought a nicer one and he nv ask me pay! Even bEst is that He still buy Satay and rice for me to eat for supper!!! LOve u MAX MAX!! pAPA IS THE BEST!!! WO HAO AI PAPA AH!!! SHI ShaNG ZHI YOU BABA HAO! YOU BA DE XT XIANG GE BAO! XD haPPI!!
